Is the West Texas CrossRoads Marathon a Boston qualifier?
Yes. By finishing with a qualifying time, you become
eligible for the 2009 Boston Marathon. Be sure to register before the entrant maximum is reached. For
more details, go to
www.bostonmarathon.org.
2. What time
will the races start?
Both the marathon and half marathon will start at
7:00 a.m. The 5K run will start at 7:15 am, and the kids'
run starts at 9:00 a.m.

Where are the start and finish lines?
The West Texas CrossRoads Marathon and Half Marathon are
USATF-certified race routes that start and finish on the
CrossRoads Fellowship campus. Both races are loop
courses. A course map can be viewed on this web site.
4. If I am not able to participate or choose not to compete in
the West Texas CrossRoads Marathon, can I get my entry fee
refunded, transferred to another individual, or rolled over
to the next year?
Registration is non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot
be banked for future use.
5. Are awards based on clock (gun) time or chip time?
All awards are based on CHIP time except for prize money
winners. Prize money awards are based on CLOCK/GUN time.
6. What is the difference between chip time and clock (gun)
time?
Clock time is the time it takes from the official start of
the race to when you cross the finish line.
Chip time is the time it takes you to go from the start line
to the finish line, regardless of when you cross the start
line.
7. What are the age divisions for awards for the full and half
marathon?
Awards will be presented to the top three males and females
in the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39,
40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.
8. Will finisher medals be awarded for the marathon and half
marathon?
Yes. Every marathon and half marathon finisher will receive
a specially designed medal, provided they finish within the
race time limits (7 hours for the marathon and 4 hours for
the half marathon).
9. Is there a limit to the number of entrants?
The marathon and half marathon are limited to 2,000
participants, each. If we approach either limit, we will
provide notification via the website. This is the first
annual West Texas Crossroads Marathon, so no participant
history is available.
10. How long will the courses remain open?
The marathon course will remain open and completely
supported for seven hours. That’s a 16-minute per mile pace.
The half marathon course will remain open and completely
supported for four hours. That's a 19 minute per mile pace.
11. Can I walk part of the marathon and half marathon?
Yes, walking is permitted as long as you complete the course
within the cutoff time.
12. How do I find out about race changes due to inclement
weather, disaster, etc.?

13. When and where is the packet pickup and the race expo?
All runners must go to the Expo located in the CrossRoads
Fellowship Youth Auditorium to pick up their packets. Hours
for packet pickup at the expo are Friday, October 3 from
noon to 9:00 pm and Saturday, October 4 from 5:45 am to 6:30
pm (note that Expo does not open until 9:00 am on Saturday
but packets will be available as posted). If you are
unable to pick up your packet you can have a friend pick up
your packet for you.
14. Where are the aid stations?
Aid stations are located approximately every mile on
the course. There will be water and electrolyte drink
at every aid station. Medical assistance will also be
available on the course. There will also be
port-a-potties at select stations.
15. Where do I park on race day?
You will be able to park on the
CrossRoads Fellowship
campus.
16. How do I qualify
for the marathon?
To qualify for the 113th Boston Marathon,
athletes must meet the designated time standard which
corresponds to their age group. Qualifying times must be run
on or after September 23, 2006. Seeding is based on
qualifying times, which are subject to review and
verification. All participants must adhere to the guidelines
set forth by the B.A.A., USA Track and Field or foreign
equivalent, International Paralympic Committee, Wheelchair
Sports, USA, Disabled Sports, USA, and the United States
Association for Blind Athletes. Qualifying times must be met
in competitions observing these same rules. Proof of
qualification must accompany the application. Participants
must be 18 years or older on race day.
Qualifying times are based upon your age on
the date of the Boston Marathon in which you will be
participating.

*An additional 59 seconds will be accepted
for each age group time standard. For example, a net time of
3:50:59 will be accepted for a 42-year old woman.
